An Infertility Success Story - A.M.

I have had endometriosis for 13 years. After 9 laperscopic surgeries and one ovary removal I still had faith that getting pregnant would be easy since I had already had so much trouble. In Jan 2003 we decided we were ready for a baby! I happily went off my birth control, started picking out baby names and looking at nursery decorations-We were so excited about everything we had to look forward too. By May 2003 I still had not had a period (I had been on the depo shot), my Dr. starts me on a hormone to make my periods start, which works, but blood work determines I don’t ovulate, and I start to take Clomid. About 1 month later an ultrasound shows an ovulation cyst! (Finally!) We found out 2 weeks later (Feb. 2004) I am pregnant-we are so excited we tell everyone!

We go to the doctor for a 12 week check, we weren’t able to hear the baby‘s heartbeat-we had lost the baby at 8 weeks. I felt immediate heartbreak and an overwhelming since of failure. This was on a Fri. afternoon, and they scheduled me for a D&C Monday.

Over the next year I still had a lot of trouble regulating my cycle which was often 50-60 days long. The weekly ovulation kits only increased my feeling of failure. We decide to go see an infertility specialist, after an intensive work-up we were told I had endometriosis in the lining of my uterus which would make it hard for me to have a successful pregnancy. The recommendation is to have a procedure done to correct this, but my insurance will not cover it. I am very frustrated, tired and unsure what to do next.

I read an ad for Stillpoint and it mentions infertility- I call and talk with Heather, her warmth and understanding made me feel very much at ease, I scheduled an appointment and felt the first glimmer of hope that I have had in a long time.
This is the summer of 2005 and about a month into treatments I had a 30 day cycle, and continued to have regular cycles (Amazing!). In Dec. I had some pain and went to the doctor., an ultrasound revealed an ovulation cyst-they recommend wait a few days and have sex-very good chance of getting pregnant! They are very surprised because I haven’t had the surgery yet. Two weeks later I took a pregnancy test and it was positive. Heather and my doctors monitored me closely and we welcomed Ava into our life on September 17, 2006!!!

It was a long journey-I wish I would have found Acupuncture sooner-it would have saved me from so many surgeries, heartache and our dreams would have came true much faster.

Heather’s comments: Obviously, not every woman seeking treatment has success this easily. Most women who see me for infertility understand that it may be a 9-12 month process, and that some women do not have success at all. However, using Chinese Medicine to address fertility allows you to enhance your overall wellbeing in order to create the optimum environment for supporting a pregnancy. Even if a pregnancy does not occur, most women notice that other nagging symptoms such as digestive problems, sleep problems and menstrual pain resolve themselves rather quickly. And then there are those cases in which it just takes a little gentle balancing, and everything else falls into place. Best wishes for you if you are also on this journey.
