  • Acupuncture can help your body heal from acute injury as well as manage chronic pain conditions. By increasing blood circulation, decreasing inflammation, and changing the brain’s response to pain, we can often reduce or eliminate the following aches and pains:

Sports Injuries, Low Back Pain, Sciatica, Hip Pain, Neck Pain, Shoulder Pain, Frozen Shoulder, Knee Pain, Plantar Fasciitis, Arthritis, Tennis Elbow, Headaches/Migraines, Post-Surgical Pain, Fibromyalgia, Abdominal Pain, TMJ, Trigeminal Neuralgia, Toothache, Sinus Pain, Bell’s Palsy, Post-Stroke Pain and Paralysis.

  • Whether or not you have a standard medical diagnosis, Chinese Medicine may be helpful to regulate the digestive system in conditions such as: abdominal pain or discomfort, poor appetite, constipation, diarrhea, Crohn’s disease, IBS, malabsorption, weight loss or gain, acid reflux or GERD.

  • Chinese Medicine is well known for treating conditions speicific to women, because it can be so remarkably effective. We can assist in the treatment of women over the life span for conditions such as: painful periods, endometriosis, menstrual migraines, PMS, PMDD, irregular periods, PCOS, heavy periods, fertility, morning sickness, edema or headaches during pregnancy, breech position, delayed labor, insufficient lactation, post-partum depression, hot flashes, menopausal syndrome.

  • Increasingly, men are seeking treatment for problems related to low testosterone. Fatigue, irritability, low or high libido, erectile dysfunction, and benign prostatic hypertrophy all may be helped with Chinese Medicine.

  • Children respond remarkably well to Chinese Medicine. Colic, Reflux, Asthma, Eczema, Frequent Colds, Ear infection, Diarrhea, Constipation, Failure to Thrive, Developmental Problems, Insomnia, Bedwetting, Night Terrors, ADHD, and acne are just some of the conditions we treat.

Young children are often treated without needles utilizing special Japanese tools and techniques referred to as shonishin. This enables us to work with the meridians without actually penetrating the skin. Children typically enjoy these treatments and are even encouraged to participate in them. Older children are usually treated with needles, often finding them just as relaxing as adults do. Non-needle techniques can also be used for older children who don’t yet feel comfortable with the idea of needles. You typically don’t hear children crying in our office until it’s time to go home.

  • Sequelae of stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Bell’s Palsy, Parkinson’s disease, neuralgia, neuropathy, dementia can all be reduced with acupuncture.

  • Chinese Medicine can reduce symptoms of Asthma, Sinus Problems, Cough, Shortness of Breath, Bronchitis, Chronic Phlegm, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Allergies, Frequent Illness, Colds, Flus,(in the case of potentially contagious conditions, we ask that you speak with a practitioner over the phone before coming in). Herbal medicines are often more effective in these circumstances, and avoiding an office visit can minimize the spread of infection.

  • Chinese Medicine can be very effectively used to treat skin from the inside out, helping dry skin, acne, eczema and other conditions. Your practitioner will likely want to use both acupuncture and Chinese herbal formulas to acheive the fastest results

  • According to Chinese Medicine, problems with the emotions can be just as rooted in physical imbalances as can physical pain and discomfort. We address emotional concerns by looking at the whole person. In so doing, we can assist with: depression, anxiety, insomnia, PTSD, obsessive thoughts or behaviors and emotional imbalances related to PMS.

  • Acupuncture has been shown to be “an appropriate adjunctive treatment for chemotherapy-induced nausea/vomiting” (J Clin Oncology, 2013 Mar 1;31 (7)) People undergoing cancer treatments who are also receiving acupuncture report feeling stronger and more resilient. Often, they require less medication and maintain better blood counts.

In Chinese Medicine, cancer treatment must take into account two equally important principles: to fight the cancer AND to support the body’s natural ability to heal. Standard medical treatments can be very useful for fighting cancer, but often leave the patient emotionally and physically depleted. No matter what phase of treatment you are currently in, Chinese Medicine can help by shoring up your natural resilience and calming anxiety. While Chinese Medicine does not offer a cure for cancer, it can be a vital complementary treatment.

  • Acupuncture can be very useful in helping to ease pain and quell anxiety during hospice care. It helps to harmonize and balance a person’s “qi” or life force. Sometimes, coming into balance means letting go. Acupuncture can help a person make that transition with a greater sense of ease and acceptance. Family members report that after acupuncture their loved ones seem more calm and peaceful, and they tend to require less pain medication. For these treatments, we often need to come to you.
